marry me joey! :-)

i don't know what i was doing or what i was searching on itunes, but somehow i managed to find myself on the new kids greatest hits page and listening to all the tracks. and getting all giddy again. :-) then i remembered how i forgot to post my song of the day shortly after the concert. so here it is. along with a bonus track (thanks to MY for remembering this one!!).

my most favorite new kids slow jam. EVER.

bonus song:

you're so welcome.

80's purple, for the fellas edition

was hella bored at work and spent my whole day pouring over all the product on this site! i just brought you my fave pieces from the women's side, now here are a couple of finds for the male audience..........

wool peacoat by diesel
buttoned down it looks like your standard peacoat. but buttoned up like shown here the details come through

nylon hoodie - converse by john varvatos
super easy jacket. curious to see what this feels like though. i'm big on having to touch and feel everything when it comes to outerwear.

the nixon player watch
a serious staple that should be in every young man's closet

or the sleek blacked out time teller

love the idea behind this hat with the printed feather (clever!) but don't love the polka dots and color combo

the defcon jacket by fyasco (although i think i love the brand name and jacket name even more! haha)

im king tee, dedicated to the elite run club (although they ain't as hard as the crew on this tee :-) haha)

and finally, scotch & soda's buffalo plaid flannel peacoat! this. jacket. is. fire!!!!! love the nice little touches with the striped undercollar and crest-style patch on the sleeve.

80's purple

my newest online retail obsession: 80's purple. don't let the name fool you - there are no crazy neon tops or leggings here. no throwback cartoon tees. au contraire - it's a mix of metropark meets urbanoutfitters meets bluefly!! fellas - they got lots of great stuff for you too!

so i found these two patent beauties by cc skye.........
(the first one reminds me of a fall '08 chain bag by marc jacobs which was inspired by an early (forget which season) chain link bag by chanel.

this fab clutch by chinese laundry..................

hellz bellz jacket................
(these guys make some of the cutest urban inspired clothing for women - they totally get it right when it comes to the cut and fit)

brown bomber by obey..........
(my mouth dropped when i saw this)

and finally, my marc by marc sunglasses that i'd been looking for!!!

i think i shall be purchasing the clutch and sunglasses shortly. they gots a 20% off everything sale going on today!

EDIT: damn! the brown bomber is sold out!!!!!!

briefcase inspired bags

i expect great things to come from this trend/concept.
LOVE that cognac colored bag on the far left! too bad it's a mulberry that'll set you back $800! i'll just have to wait for the mid tier retailers to come out with their own interpretations.

note to the fellas - i haven't forgotten about my fashion savvy male bloggers! i promised a men's fashion oriented entry and i shall deliver soon.

fashionably late

i've had these fashion items bookmarked to blog about for like two weeks. now they kinda old news but whatever.

now this is an oversized handbag, my friends -

i'd totally live inside there.

i *heart* marc

let's go back in time and re-visit some of his memorable fashion moments. he took it to a whole other level just a few short years back when he chopped his hair off and ditched the square frame glasses. nymag left off one of my fave marc moments though. at last year's mj holiday party. dressed as a.......

camel toe!

coppola x vuitton

this is sure to be a great collabo. according to wwd and ny mag, sofia coppola's been tapped to design a shoe and handbag line for louis vuitton. boy, being one of marc jacobs' bff's sure has its perks!

i was kinda shocked (but also excited) to hear that she decided to go the chain department store route. what a leap from doing a diffusion line at urban.  the jcp line will be called i [heart] ronson.  according to wwd,
"Targeted towards the 21 to 35-year-old woman, I [Heart] Ronson will be priced at the store’s better tier, ranging from $15 for layering T-shirts and tanks to $26 to $44 for blouses, sweaters and jeans to $40 to $65 for dresses and jackets. In contrast, Ronson’s contemporary line for department stores wholesales from $70 to $130."

can't wait to see how the collection shapes up. got high hopes, but i must say playing in the chain department store channel when you're coming from a higher end background could be challenging.

oh did i ever mention how i tried on sarah jessica parker's bitten line?  oy, what a tragic disappointment. guess you can't expect much when you're dealing with a steve and barry's. the fabrics were poor quality. the cuts of the shirts were totally off. even on a skinny chick i don't think these items could have worked. i thought i'd find at least one item, even if it were a basic, to bring to the register. sadly, no.

cdg for h&m

we're only a few short weeks away until the comme des garcons for h&m line is released in (only 5 cities in) the US! the powell street store is the only one in northern california that will carry the line and i know it's gonna sell out in an instant, as do all these guest designer lines. i'm gonna need to make some h&m friends fast!

take a sneak peek at the line here
key pieces - belted trench, off center zip jacket
not sure if i'm feeling all the unaligned/deconstructed items and the harem pants (aka the hammer pants)
disappointed in the handbag but curious to see the navy w/ white polka dot wallet

i look forward to checking out the east village shop on my next nyc excursion (possibly in the spring time, if anyone's down)

hooray for (the end of) heidiwood!

anchor blue gave heidi's ho bag of a clothing line the boot!!  thank you lord for not subjecting the fashion world to another season on this monstrosity! back to whoring out for the paparazzi! or working for bolthouse! oh wait, by the looks of next week's episode of the hills, it looks like her ass might be canned!  yeah, it's probably a fake firing to help save brent bolthouse's "image" and distance himself from the show, which is clearly going downhill. nevertheless, i'm sure it will still be entertaining as heidi sits there, with a blank look on her face, not understanding why she's getting fake fired from her fake job.

damn, there ain't nothing on the tube on tuesdays (i've officially given up on 90210). i'm so bored!!! i really should get to bed early tonight since i got a jam packed day of meetings and presentations to work on tomorrow. yay!  which reminds me. you must peep this vid i happened upon this weekend.

madtv does powerpoint.

as someone who works on stupid powerpoint presentations WAYYYYY too much for her job (i seriously don't know how i get stuck doing presentations instead of our admin), i was dying of laughter throughout this clip. would love love love to throw one of these gags into a presentation one day.

"all the mavericks in the house put your hands up!!" brilliant. and keep in mind amy poehler did that and she's like 9 months pregnant!

shout out to long island.....

.....via the daily show.

peep the first 3 mins of this video from the daily show last night - pre-presidential debate - with field correspondent john oliver reporting from long island. genius. pure comedic genius.

"Ay, are we tawkin or are we tawkin here?......OH!"

One of the best impersonations of the Long Island elite that I've seen in a while. Almost puts Andrew Dice Clay to shame.

I pretty much refuse to watch regular news when it comes to the election. I will only get my news from Jon Stewart and the gang. LOVE this show. He's the only "newscaster" that makes it tolerable to watch all this nonsense going on in the world. Because he just makes fun of it all.

Stewart/Colbert in '12!!

j'adore

i NEED this dress!

crazy. it's like d&g knew what i was thinking. been loving all this plaid happening for fall, especially the brights contrasted against black. love the shirt dresses coming out. and just as i'm thinking how hot it'd be to see a plaid shirt dress, d&g comes through! thanks to whowhatweardaily for the heads up and to taylor momsen (aka little jenny humphrey) for sporting this outfit around the mean streets of ny. yes i want that shawl she's wearing too.

justin nozuka

this is in response to le reegsta's questionable post (haha) today.
question 9: how come i didn’t know keane released a new album?
my answer:  don't listen to keane, listen to justin nozuka
follow up question: who is justin nozuka?

he's the new jason mraz. and he's amazing. and i hope this kid goes far. love his single "after tonight" which plays pretty much every morning on vh1 as i get ready for work. :-)

check it -

now take a listen to more tracks off his album.........

Justin Nozuka (Holly)

chickdowntown.com

finally decided to check this site out since it's been advertised everywhere. and by everywhere i really mean on perezhilton and random tv spots here and there.  :-)

found 2 clutches to die for (i've been watching too much rachel zoe project lately and have unfortunately been adopting her habit of saying the word 'die' anytime she encounters a piece of fashion heaven. but really sometimes there's just no other way to describe that feeling when you first see an amazingly crafted article of clothing, or in my case, a purse or clutch. you gasp and then just die a little (in a good way) inside).

REBECCA MINKOFF
Renedezvous Clutch in Purple Patent

KOOBA
Red Mandy Clutch

must must must get my hands on that red kooba somehow. notice how i conveniently left the prices off these babies. mainly because i know you'd think i was crazy to spend that much on a clutch. which i totally agree with. but they're just so beautiful!!!!

chick carries a very impressive list of designer labels, ranging from my ever favorite marc by marc jacobs, then there's alice+olivia, charlotte ronson, elizabeth and james, (mary kate and ashley's high end line which is doing very well), see by chloe, m missoni and so on and so on. price range is nowhere near my budget at the moment, but it's still nice to look at all the pretty clothes without an annoying sales lady hovering over your shoulder to see if you're either shoplifting or actually going to buy something.

the site also features a lookbook, which nowadays is crucial for online retailers. since we can't physically walk into your store and see the product merchandised on fixtures, tables, mannequins, etc. the lookbook serves as a great tool to show how to put the pieces together. which i love. because sometimes i really can't (or am too lazy to) think for myself when it comes to putting outfits together so lookbooks make it easy to adopt and adapt to your own personal style.  my only gripe about chick's lookbook is that it takes a while to go page by page. it's not made on a flash-type of format where you click an arrow and it's like a 3-d page is flipped in front of you. instead if you hit the next button, a new webpage has to be opened and then reloads all the other elements of the site plus your new lookbook page. not sure if i explained that clearly. you'll just have to see it for yourself.

chances of me returning to the site? likely, but not regularly. bluefly still reigns supreme among the mid-high tier online retailers. oh by the way, for the fellas, i think i posted this before on xanga, but definitely check out bluefly's tailored shop (click me!) if you're ever looking into suits and looking for great color/fabric combinations. amazing selection.

more LoVe for vuitton

Referring back to my previous post about Sean Connery for LV…...

A big thanks and shout-out to Vuitton faithful (not to mention faithful blog reader!!!) AS for the heads up on LV's new online campaign (via his facebook status! Haha! I've been on facebook a little too much lately). The site gives a little more perspective on where the brand is coming from this Fall/Holiday season - going back to a more iconic, timeless feel. Makes the Sean Connery selection for their print campaign feel a little less random.

As part of their LV/Travel mini site, they've created these amazing city vignettes told through the eyes of modern visionaries. You must must must check out their "San Francisco with Francis Ford Coppola" piece (he paints such a grand, beautiful picture of our beloved city), along with the "Paris Par Catherine Deneuve" vignette. The pictures are just absolutely heartstopping and of course is another source of inspiration to make me want to take up photography (I know some other bloggers out there who've also got the photo bug!! Let's start a club!). Other cities featured include the following -

London by Keith Richards
Moscow by Mikhail Gorbachev
New York by Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi

There's also a "Louis Vuitton Movie" on the site that's a must watch too. I've spent some serious time in front of my laptop over the last few days just watching all these videos over and over again. Just to die for.

off the wall

song of the day: "off the wall" - michael jackson

Off The Wall - Michael Jackson

i have to play this song in my head every time i'm stressed out during/after/because of work. it's such a great little tune. favorite line: "gotta leave that nine to five up on the shelf, and just enjoy yourself." for real, michael! i'm feelin ya!

i continue to struggle in finding that proper work/life balance. just leave work behind. don't bring it home with you. don't lose sleep over it. i've heard it all! how come everyone else seems to be able to do this but me? i'm totally grateful to first of all, have a job in this crazy economy of ours and to work in an industry that i'm still interested in and passionate about (to a degree. of course i'd leave at the drop of a hat if marc jacobs magically rang me up to go work for him!). but there are times when my job just makes me crazy! i guess you take the good with the bad, right?

* EDIT*:  added song to post

bond x vuitton?

on the fashion front......

just got wind of interesting news out of the louis vuitton camp. seems they've got a fabu new spokesperson.......

* pic courtesy of ny magazine's fashion blog, the cut

sean connery? seriously? louis vuibond? since when did lv start targeting the baby boomer consumers? i ain't gonna hate though, he's lookin good for a man in his late seventies. but seriously? i thought this ad was fake when i first saw it. not sure what direction lv is going with this but now i'm curious to see what other ads they'll come out with. couldn't they have at least dressed him up bond style, sportin an lv bag as he's running through the streets of london away from spies or something?

ok seriously, how old am i?

ok guys, need to take a quick breather from all this nkotb madness.
just for a moment.
because i'm quickly spiraling into full fledged teeny bopper mode.
and i haven't gone down this path since nsync's heydays.
and if you knew me during those times, you know just how CRAZY i can get with boy band fever! and don't even get me started on the idea of an nsync reunion. i'd stand in line for days for tix to that one. days.
so let's just take a step (by step) back for a moment.
then we'll resume back to our regularly scheduled programming.
hang tough.
:-)

October 12, 2008

so you don't gotta be alone....

......i'll be your boyfriend.

ok, so this isn't one of my own videos, but a decent one i found on youtube of "single" which they opened the show with.  this girl must have had some good ass seats to be able to capture this vid so close and clear.

p.s. warning! lots of screaming girls in the background!  haha! just a taste of the madness that night!

nkotb - "single" - san jose, ca

nkotb, the pics!!!!

* pics courtesy of........me!

just posted my pics from last night's screamfest onto flickr!

we sat towards the back of the arena so they're not the sharpest of pics. but thankfully the guys performed on a mini stage in the middle of the floor level and i was able to get some better shots!

as soon as i figure out how to upload the videos from my camera so that they don't take up a massive amount of space, i'll post them. i get so excited all over again every time i watch them! haha!

i love joey mac!  sorry, i'm totally gonna be ending several posts like that for a while. :-)

song of the day

Youre Not Gonna Bring Me Down Today - Danity Kane

in honor of the group that once was, danity kane.

i don't fully understand what's going on with these gals after catching the tail end of this past week's episode. is aubrey still in or out? she has been photographed solo around town quite a bit these days. wearing some fugly ass outfits, but that's beside the point. then there's the whole dawn is the future of bad boy rumors. i admittedly have not been watching most of this season, but that's just because i'm sick of seeing diddy's face all over television, not because i don't like these two groups (donnie, sorry you're still on the fence)

anyway, i can't quite remember what made me think of this song the other day but it continues to be one of my favorites to ever come out of this group. while yes, it really was just a vocal training exercise from their pre-danity days, it's still a great little moment, a great little tune, that's always been a highlight from the mtb series.

check out the vid clip from mtb here too. look how young they all look!

boyfriend of the day

actually scratch that. not boyfriend.  this is dream hubbie of the day.  :-)

damn.

need to do some research and find out who this guy is!

need to go to LA......

.....and drop in on this party!!

check out that dj lineup! ronson, aoki, mmm, spider, vice, stokerokk. only one missing is mstrkrft! so jealous of the hollywood music scene. so jealous.

all hail AM. welcome back. come to sf soon!

babies (and vh1) love hip hop

i think my 11-month old nephew is a fan of de la soul and q-tip. i was watching the hip hop honors show last night with him in his playroom. he'd be playing on his mat on the floor, totally in his own world, but then he'd stop what he was doing and look up at the tv every time he heard q-tip. then de la soul came out and he was straight watching the whole performance! i kid you not. i wish i had a camera because little man started clapping when the song was done!

every little thing he does is magic. seriously. blows me away.

you know what else blows me away, and i say this every single year but still.....that vh1, a station that plays like 1 current hip hop song a month maybe, can put together such a spot on hip hop show every year. this is the 5th (?) show now and they've yet to disappoint.

props.

ain't done yet

damn! i step away from the blogging world for a quick sec and i come back and find out hella people joined the party!  Peep the cool kids honor roll off on the right.

MUST give a special shout out to Like...Mos Jef-inately! so excited that you've finally got your own (blog)spot set up.  keep the posts coming!

so why i been so MIA these days? blame work. and my general fatigued lazy ass. i got hella posts in draft form that i just haven't finished!  not a good sign. but i shall try. these new kids on the block have breathed a little bit more life into this blogaholic soul.

be back soon.

MiTunes

times are tough these days. especially for a gal obsessed with buying music. gotta find new means to make my cd purchases without breaking the bank and i just found one! good ol' bmg! haha! i know, you're probably like, damn that thing's still around? and she's still a member? yes i am! since november of '02 (had to peep my account history to find that one out. haha!). anyway, bmg had a fat sale on their site today - 80% off their stock. plus i had 4 free cd's in my back pocket from either a past purchase or just by accumulating points by default of being a member (it pays to have some loyalty, people!).

anyway here's what i picked up, in no particular order. 7 cd's for a whoppin $43! and that included tax and their ridiculous shipping charges! score!

katy perry - one of the boys (didn't like her at first, but was impressed by her vma performance and i think her video blogs are hysterical. so i created a katy perry station on pandora and actually like a bunch of her songs! fun pop music. doesn't sound like anyone else out right now. and i LOVE the title track, one of the boys. LOVE.)

britney spears - blackout (i have all of brit's albums except for this one. can't believe i'm admitting that but i am. she just makes good pop music people! don't hate!)
janet jackson - discipline (a late add to my cart. heard some decent tracks and decided, hey why not)

blackstar - blackstar (bro stole this from me and lost it - just buying a replacement. thanks to vh1's 100 greatest hip hop songs for reminding me about this album)

nerd - in search of (inspired by pandora - been listening to a lot of their non-radio tracks. can't hate on these guys - they come up with some dope beats)

nerd - fly or die (same as above)

bob marley - legend (bro stole this one too but he didn't lose it, he just refuses to give it back! beyotch. i really should play the nkotb card here to get it back, but i'm thinking of keeping that in my back pocket a little longer and save for another day - ie the holidays. haha! totally kidding. sorta)

unfortunately bmg isn't hip on the most recent releases - takes a while to filter down to them. so no ne-yo or robin thicke purchases just yet. haven't been going to target so i keep missing the sales. now i don't want to pay 15 bucks a pop for these discs so i'll need to figure out a way to get these cheaper! help!
