song of the day, part III, omfg electro edition

seriously?

mstrkrft remix of jesse mccartney's "leavin"!!  O.M.F.G.

so effin' brilliant!!!!!!!!!! it's been a while since i've found a good electro remix which is why i'm so excited about this!  and of all songs it's "leavin" which is by far one of the better pop songs to come out in the last two years by a male, non-justin, solo artist.

mstrkrft x jesse mccartney
Leavin (MSTRKRFT Remix) - Jesse McCartney

since we're on the electro beat, check out these two remixes of katy perry's "hot n cold" -

lmfao x katy perry
LMFAO ft Katy Perry - Hot N Cold (Electro Remix) (Dirty) - LMFAO ft Katy Perry

yelle x katy perry
i can't find a standalone player for this remix so go to perez's site here and check it out.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

song of the day, part II, can you feel the love edition

matt nathanson is the new justin nozuka is the new jason mraz. :-) vh1/radio alice fave. your standard singer/songwriter combo. i imagine this song to be used on an upcoming episode of gossip girl or 90210, anything involving a lovey dovey couple sequence (if it hasn't been used already and i've just missed it - i am a little behind in my gg).

Come On Get Higher - Matt Nathanson

that's the acoustic version, which i also love. for the original song, peep the video -

"...and I miss the still of the silence as you breathe out and I breathe in."

le sigh.....

that whole opening section just tugs at the heart string a little. such great writing.

-------------------------------------

EDIT:  while we're on the lovey dovey note, then i must must post this cover seal did of otis redding's "i've been loving you too long." this is the kind of song you just wanna get lost in, slow dancing with the one you love.

le sigh........

Ive Been Loving You Too Long - Seal

jam of the day

Rehab - Rihanna

obsessed with this song.
and i'm sure the video with mr timberlake helped spur things along (peep it here).
this is actually the first rihanna song that i've liked after first or second listen. her tunes usually take a little while to grow on me.

the video itself plays out more like a fashion editorial for vogue or vanity fair than it does a video with a storyline. which is all good with me as long as hottie jt is in most of the shots. :-)
i actually wonder if this was inspired by the becks/posh W photo spread back during all the hype of them moving to the US. very similar vibe with the desert backdrop and the vintage car.

still here?

Hi!

Sorry for the lack of posts. Especially to le reegsta - see #64. haha. Bet y'all thought I ran off with TI. I wish!
Actually I've run off with....Edward. ;-) Obsession du jour = Twilight. Now don't you go rolling your eyes at me. I'm hooked. Completely and utterly hooked to these books. I blame it all on S - you know who you are! (too bad my first name didn't start with B instead of my last - then we'd be S and B, in true gossip girl form! Sorry, totally random tangent!). Anyway, if she hadn't made me take her extra copy of the book, I would've never picked it up myself and deep dived into the wonderful world of Forks, WA and into the arms of the beautiful Edward. Le sigh.....

So I could go on and on and on about this, but let me just stop myself - for now - and catch you up on things. (another random tangent: I like how I seem to think so highly of myself that I feel the need to update people on my ever fabulous life. (that was sarcasm, people. Please don't ever think I could be so self-proclaiming and shallow!). This blog sometimes acts as my own personal journal too, where I can come back to these dates in time and see what shenanigans I was up to. A year from now I'll probably re-read this post and roll my eyes at myself and this whole twilight episode of my life).

So let's see, where did we last leave off? *scrolls down blog and re-reads last post*
Ahhh yes, TI. My how that feels like ages ago. Now I haven't completely replaced TI with Edward (p.s. Edward is one of the main characters of the book, if you couldn't already guess. Or if you've been living under a rock and not seen all the Twilight madness everywhere). It's still a pretty even tie as I have both TI's latest album and one of the twilight books in my car at all times. :-) So wildjam? Another great show by our favorite hip pop radio station. Luda's set brought us back to the college days. Got hyphy during e-40's mini set and danced like a damn fool (his music just does that to you). Spotted too short standing on the sidelines, mere inches away from our seats (props again to G.I. for the great seats!). Realized that akon's solo songs kinda suck but love his guest drops on other people's tracks. And of course, fell in love with TI. :-)

Oh, quick rewind. The weekend before. Rolsuno's bash at Minna. Super fun. Had to make sure I give a little shout out because that was seriously some fun times. Neil Armstrong was in the house and it was a thousand times better than when he spun at poleng. Also spotted the invisible stripes guy in the sea of people that night. Hottie and unofficial botd. :-) Oh and why did I spot a pic of my cousin on their blog from a halloween party! So random.

Anyway, then there was my nephew's 1st birthday bash (who I'll now start referring to as little j. I seem to have opened up the gossip girl can of worms earlier and this just goes along with it!). The party went well and we all had lots of fun but I was so tired afterwards!! Unfortunately had to miss EP's resto reception on the other side of the bay because it was all the same day/night, but you can read all about it here. So Elmo was in the house as our special guest for little j, but ummm.....he was kinda janky. His elmo suit looked all ragged, dirty and beat up. Like elmo's been going through some tough times (the economy must be taking its toll back home on sesame street too I guess. haha). Oh plus my bro spotted elmo smoking in the parking lot before the show. Not in suit, thank god - that would've traumatized the kids! The hall where we held the party was perfect. It's one of the newer buildings in ssf and everything was still brand new. Highly recommend to anyone looking to throw a fam party in the peninsula. Oh and twilight sidenote: with all our family and friends in town, I managed to find 3 more fanatics!! Yay!

So this would actually be a perfect segue into twilight and the movie, but I'll stop myself here. Because this post is already getting long and I feel that a true twilight-dedicated post (errr, make that postS) is in order. And I'll try not to leave you hanging like I did these past few weeks. Sorry about that.

So if I don't get a chance to get back onto blogger before tomorrow, have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

xoxo,
tgb

not sure if i've ever blogfessed my love and lust for TI. there's just something about him. makes me stop and go.........DAMN!

he fine as hell. there were moments during his set last night where i stopped singing along because i was so distracted by his hotness that i literally could not formulate any words, let alone sentences, let alone lyrics. stupified by the sexy. haha, sounds like an album title.

TI vs joey mac? TI
TI vs shirtless hottie from lipstick jungle? TI
TI vs any of my other botd's? TI
TI vs justin? TI. well........ok no, i won't go there

dirty dirty thoughts just kept running through my head last night during his set. sorry, was that a little T(m)I? haha

stay tuned for more on wildjam. not that anyone else really mattered that night!

winner winner chicken dinner

in the epic battle between fashion and music, who prevailed? i know you're curious. and the winner is.......

my nephew!! :-)

late entry into the fight. comes in undefeated. and no one - high end designer, celeb dj, or other - gets in the way of my little man!!

his 1st birthday is coming up this saturday and there's still lots of work to be done for the bash. so i'll be spending the rest of tonight running errands, picking up party supplies, and then going to my bro's to help put some things together. such as making t-shirts for my fam with jaron's big smiling face across the front! inspired by none other than mosjefinately's derrrrty thirrrrrty bash a couple months ago!

so, sorry monsieur st. laurent and monsieur AM. another day.

p.s. not that i'll be going to any of these other events, but there's lots going on in the city tonight. in addition to the above, q-tip's also in town tonight and there's a party going on at the juicy store on grant. another music vs. fashion battle! haha! so hopefully one of my faithful readers will be attending just one of the mentioned events of this evening and can report back to me!

decisions, decisions!

DJ AM vs. YSL.

music vs. fashion.

oh the dilemma!!

so i just got word that AM will be returning to SF for his first Bay Area gig post-accident.
this thursday night.
which is the same night as the YSL public opening gala (the red carpet opening gala for all the san francisco socialites was held on oct 30 - catch a sneak peek of the exhibit via redcarpetsf here).

on one hand i've already seen the ysl exhibit, but the gala still sounds like a fun event and of course i'd love to see the exhibit again (and again and again).
on the other, it's dj am. and everyone knows i love me an AM party! only drawback is that it's a thursday night. and you know it's gonna be a late night because he ain't spinning until midnight at least. so i'll be getting little to no sleep and i've got work the next morning. plus on the night before all this, on wed, i'm going to 94.9's wildjam down in san jo, which is sure to let out at 11ish or even later. oy. why couldn't one of these events be on a friday! that'd be too easy.

what to do!?!!

VS.

and to end on a completely different note all together, i'm currently watching the hills (i know, shoot me, but i can't get enough of the heidi humiliation as she grovels for her fake job back). the gals (whit + lc) are "working" a fashion show and these models are CRAZY HOT. like my keyboard is going to short from the drool coming out my mouth kind of hot. DAMN! and ewww to whitney for choosing skeezy justin bobby v. 2.0 instead of hottie nyc model guy. you've lost all credibility with me, whit. we'll just see if i watch your new show!

gasp!

almost died when i saw this contest posted by my ever favorite whowhatweardaily.com
THE chanel bag that i have to have before i die (well, one of the chanel bags that is, but this is ranked among the top 3).
they never give these bags out.
i entered.
and if there is a handbag god (coco chanel, i pray to thee), she will hear my prayers and grant this bag unto me.

please oh please oh please oh please............

roll call!

i normally don't post items of a political nature but thought this was pretty cool. these are the people obama assembled to fix the country. click on the link and you'll find the listing, from left to right, of who will be his right hand men (and women) to clean up bush's mess.

side bar - you know how obama's looking for a hypoallergenic dog for his daughters? well look no further than the uber adorable.....

lovable.......

......shih tzu!!!!

when they're well-groomed (like my two little girls above), they rarely shed, which makes them hypoallergenic. too bad the obama fam wasn't looking for a pup a year ago when kaui gave birth. i would've proudly given up one of the pups to be the next doggie of the white house!

LOL animated .gif of the day

this really should've been posted last tue night/wed morning.
but stumbled across it today.
brilliant.
and if you don't know what the background is, we're not friends.

one long weekend (and a long blog to go with it)

happy belated halloween!!

and happy election day eve!!

and a special belated birthday wish to the most fabulous nephew in the whole wide world!  he turned 1 yesterday.  we're throwing him a big bash in two weeks (had to wait because the hall we wanted to rent wasn't available until then). we even got elmo in the house! whuuutt! :-)

so i'm hella tired. these past few days went by quickstyle. and all the events of this past weekend came in pairs! that never happens!

kicked things off on friday. my coworker is a member of the de young and legion of honor museums and she got an invite to a free preview of the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the de young. so we trekked out across town in the rain after work to check it out. and i died. fashion overload. the most amazing garments i've ever seen up close and personal. dresses from the 60's that are still relevant today. ostrich feather gowns that draped for days. hats, hats, hats. jackets that were intricately embroidered to look like van gogh replicas. i mean, i was completely speechless at the breadth of this collection.

after my fun-filled afternoon of fashion, i headed home and next thing i knew i had to get ready for a halloween party that night. i had no intention of going out this year. none. i just wanted to be lazy and lounge around my house that night. but somehow my two coworkers coerced me to join them and i was recruited to be the 3rd member of an elite squad of jewel thieves. dressed in black head to toe. black boots, black gloves. we had our bag of loot stashed at our side with the jewels hanging out. bungee cord rope and carabiners attached to our utility belts in case we had to repel down the side of a building for a quick getaway. and the piece de resistance - a slick headlight attached to our caps. for a last minute costume, i must say it all came together very well. best part is that we only spent 10 bucks on it all because we kept the tags on the jewels we bought from h&m and returning them this week! hahaha!!

we hit up a house party in north beach, which of course meant no overpriced drinks! no waiting in line at the bar! free jungle juice for all!  hooray!!!! i haven't hit up a good house party in a while. was immediately transported back to the college days. no keg stands this time around though. so who was there? just michael phelps, brett michaels, whiteboy from i love $, and sarah palin. then there was a dude dressed like a baked potato, fat bastard (whose costume was inflatable and took up wayyy too much room -  think i got lost inside there a couple times), slutty cops (5 of them! how unoriginal, girls!), and then there was the slutty nurse. who took home the award for best moment of the night. when she straight face planted over by the jungle juice (that's what you get for wearing hooker heels!!) and spilled all her beer and my coworker's beer all over my coworker! the nurse went down, her skirt flew up and she flashed her thong to the entire room and the beer went flying on to my coworker. so all the guys scramble to get paper towels and who do they give them all to?  the slutty thong exposing nurse!  hahaaha!!! guys at their finest.

the next morning i had to crawl off the couch at my coworker's pad, drive my ass outta the city and back home, and now get ready for a 1st birthday party. happy saturday! oy, the last thing i wanted to do was be surrounded by kids yelling and screaming and running around all over the place. thankfully i got to powernap on the drive to foster city and then chow down like a mothereffer at the party. props to my cousin for getting the party catered by macaroni grill!! after the fairy princess show, the cake cutting and gift opening we finally headed out. time to go home and relax? nope, not so much. time to go home and change into dressier outfit #2 and head over to union city for my aunt's 65th birthday party! hooray! thank god for my brother driving everywhere that day. so we hit up my aunt's party, chow down some more (good thing i was semi-hungover and could eat for days!), catch up with another side of the family, sing happy birthday, watch the guests play a combo scavenger hunt/musical chairs game (which i thought was the best party game ever!) and dance a little bit with my nephew. who we just discovered is a fan of flo-rida's "low." he danced like crazy during this song and when flo-rida said get low, jaron squatted down and started bouncing and dancing in a squat position. classic.  we head out at 11pm and instead of going home we passed by walmart. and stupid me instead of waiting in the car and passing out, i decided to join my bro and his wife as they picked up a couple of things for my nephew. it was supposed to be a quick stop, but instead i was in there for an hour and a half! walking in high heels! i was literally limping out of the store and back to the car. 45 min later, home sweet home.

did i get to sleep in? hmm....you should know the answer to that one! nope! sunday morning rolls around and now it's time to celebrate my nephew's birthday! drag my ass outta bed, wipe the makeup off my face (i know, gross, it should've been done the night before, but i was too tired to function properly), and get ready for another full day. head over to my bro's place for a birthday brunch with the fam. pretty low key for the most part. except for all the times i had to chase after jaron to protect him from all those dangerous corners in the house!  watch out for that coffee table! no don't walk there! don't climb up the stairs!  now that he's mobile (not fully walking yet, but crawling everywhere and walking anywhere there's something to hold on to), it's a must to keep all eyes on him. after another fantabulous meal (props to the bro for picking up some spam misubi and chicken katsu from the hawaiian spot in tanforan!! damn, ate like a monster this whole weekend!), we busted out the birthday cake and jaron blew out his 1 candle (barely - more slobber than air came outta his mouth!). a couple more laps around the place and then it was nap time. that's my cue to leave.

on to event #2! dinner at umami for hsm3's #1 fan.  :-) good food. good company. and best of all, mellow and sitting down!  plate after plate of delish japanese food. some highlights included the veggie tempura, ahi tuna tacos, hotpot of spicy goodness, and the shaking beef. i'm sure there was more i'm leaving out but those stick out first in my head. and for dessert? biggest pot de creme ever!  too much to handle. we did a rotation around the table with all the desserts and the pineapple/tapioca crumble was to die for!

so are you tired from all this reading? well i'm still tired from living it out these last few days!  all good in the end though. four birthdays, fine fashion, and a frugal halloween.

i'm going to bed.

fall a to zee

joe zee, creative director of elle magazine (yes, he's also on the cw show stylista), created this uber fabuloso online style guide to the best of the best this season.

by the way, i like how he totally ripped off rachel zoe's book title - "style a to zoe" - but whatever, i guess anything goes in the world of fashion!
