j'adore j'adore j'adore. hands down my favorite look of the night. everything about her look - the dress, the shoes, the hair, the HEADBAND, the makeup - is pure perfection. you must take a closer look at all the stunning details of her look here.

from the front the dress looks beautiful but not jaw dropping. but then claire danes turns around to show off the back and i was floored. pictures do not do it justice. this is one of those dresses you need to see up close. i saw pics on fabsugar of this dress first, but then saw her on e's red carpet and had to pause my dvr to take a closer look. it's just that amazing.

the eagle is just a little questionable but somehow, just somehow emma stone makes it work. she's become not only one of my favorite actresses as of late (see: the help, crazy/stupid/love) but also one of my favorite fashionistas on the red carpet (see her amazing gucci suit from the people's choice awards). the color blocking of the dress is beautiful, the shoulder detailing exquisite and the hair styling and makeup pull it all together. well done, girl.

i originally had this dress in my "honorable mention" category but because i can't stop looking at and examining the intricate beading of the top half and the way it works so well with the sequined bottom half, i had to bump this up to the best dressed list. ugh, salma hayek looks too amazing doesn't she. PS i want her hair!

honorable mention: reese witherspoon in zac posen. simple and structured, perfectly tousled hair, and a glowing smile. gotta love reese.

i seriously didn't realize this was nkotbsb. as a die hard nsync fan, i feel a little guilty for imbibing in anything bsb. but pop is pop is pop is love.

this is one fierce ass song. so fierce that marc jacobs only found it appropriate to use as the backing track for his spring/summer 2012 marc by marc jacobs show. whuuut.

"don't play no game that i can't win" - beastie boys x santigold
another goodie from that same marc by marc show. so. good.

"story of my life" - social distortion
i LOVE social d. that is all.

"back to december" - taylor swift
this song keeps coming up on my directv music channel and i can't stop singing along.

"walk away" - paula deanda
i never knew who sang this until it popped up on pandora. love.

they performed on jimmy fallon. and well if jimmy likes them, me likes them. :)

they performed this at the vma's and i was hooked. would love to see these guys play in some small, intimate venue in the city.

this is the first dance song of kim kardashian and kris humphries from their wedding. and robin thicke was actually there to sing it to them. damn you kardashians.

another one of those great angry power pop anthems

the song's pretty good (gets a bit repetitive midway and to the end) but the video is pure drugged out madness.

"helena beat" - foster the people

these guys continue to surprise me with their sound. such a great indie electro feel that's so reminiscent of mgmt.

"grand" - matt and kim

"daylight" - matt and kim

matt and kim opened for blink during (the west coast leg of) the honda civic tour and man is their energy infectious!! so amazing. i really really need to see them again live!!

"ghost on the dance floor" - blink 182

"heart's all gone" - blink 182

you swear i wouldn't have a couple blink songs on this month's playlist! come on now. i could easily put 20 songs onto the playlist after seeing them live again earlier this month, but i'll restrain myself and just put two of my faves off their new album. "ghost on the dance floor" feels like an evolved version of one of their older songs. mutt or first date maybe? and the frantic pace of "heart's all gone" just takes me way back to their early days. im actually really happy with their new album. lots of glimpses of their former fast paced, hard hitting, not so emo selves. :)

i just can't stop watching this video and listening to the song. adele absolutely killed it on this year's mtv vma's. she captured the heart of every single viewer and squeezed it hard enough so you could feel the pain coming out of every single lyric sung.

heart = destroyed.

if dawson's creek were still around (or one tree hill circa lucas/peyton era) this song would have been used in pretty much every single emotional montage involving a lovelorn teenager.

my beautiful wonderful amazing friend cheryl got married to the love of her life a few weeks ago in kauai and her videographer made this spectacular video and showed it during the reception. i was blown away at not only how quick he turned everything around but also in how he captured those oh so perfect behind the scene moments so wonderfully. props jason magbanua. props.

whoops! it's already september 2nd and i never posted my august playlist! my bad!

here are my favorite songs from the month -

"skyscraper" - demi lovato

mildly obsessed with this song. this month, selena's out and demi's in. ok that's not entirely true because i still listen to the gomez like no other. but i gotta give demi lovato a high-five (or a hug?) for this track. such a great emotional song - i love that you can hear a lot of the pain behind her voice. well done ms lovato and welcome back to the pop world.

"you make me feel" - cobra starship x sabi

just another fun cobra starship song. sabi is the new leighton meester. well not really, just in terms of singing the hook for cobra. :)

"up, up, up" - givers

the givers performed on late night jimmy fallon one night and hooked me in immediately. if two door cinema club and vampire weekend had a baby girl, you'd get the givers. :) "up, up, up" is such a great uptempo song and i love that you could hear a hint of mgmt's "kids" near the hook.

"from where you are" - lifehouse

lifehouse tugging on your heart strings as only they could. that swoony raspy voice gets me every time.

"it's my time" - fabolous

this is the top track on my workout playlist. "go hard, today. can't worry about the past 'cause that was yesterday......gotta stay on my grind 'cause it's my time." seriously how can you not get amped up w/ lyrics like that. leggooo!

"tighten up" - the black keys

"howlin' for you" - the black keys

people, listen to the black keys. i just started listening to them again thanks to dj am. it's amazing how many bands he covered in his mixes that are so relevant that i continue to discover. DJ AM FOREVER.

"back to black" - amy winehouse

one of her best tracks. RIP.

"up all night" - blink-182

MY BOYS ARE BACK!!! ahhhh! the fact that this is their first new track in forever and they've got a new album dropping soon (9/27 to be exact)......i just.....i just.....have no words to express the excitement! i never thought it would happen. when these guys broke up and went in their separate directions with their own bands, i really didn't think they'd ever come back together. and that thought alone would kill me. kill me! it's hard to explain but i've adored this band since the summer of '97. dude ranch is in my top 10 fave albums of all time. tom's voice just pierces through my heart like no one else. then about 3 years ago, they announced their reunion and subsequent tour. and now they're releasing new music. suddenly, everything in my music universe is right again.

well that is, until *nsync gets back together. ;)

it's impossible to not smile and feel good while listening to this song. and beyonce took it to the next level when she performed it on the vma's. and then she showed the world her baby bump that really put her love on top. yes i cried when she did that. because it was the cutest effin thing in the world!!!

the mtv movie awards show was last night and it was......meh. twilight predictably picked up all the major awards of the evening. jason sudekis did a good job of hosting, but with maybe one too many arnold jokes during his opening monologue. although i did appreciate his little dig at the mtv producers by reminding everyone that the M in MTV stands for music.

but anyhoo, let's get on with my favorite part of all these awards shows: the dresses! only had two favorites last night -

love all the long sleeve mini's that have been coming out for the spring/summer. ms. meester rocked it in this balmain number - the shimmer and patternwork is perfection.

finally! after months and months of scouring the tangled interwebs i finally found a decent music site to create (and share) playlists.

i was so pissed when imeem got bought out by myspace. i had tons of playlists saved on there - artist faves, faves by month, songs by mood, etc, etc. myspace tried to transfer imeem users' playlists onto their site but shocker, they couldn't do it seamlessly. the only reason i kept my myspace account all this time was to access what little music i had left over from imeem. well no more! grooveshark in, myspace out.

and the awards season is finally dunzo. the 2011 academy awards have come and gone. i never really like watching the show itself. it moves along too slow, too formal of a presentation, lots of hollywood butt kissing. they need to add more music performances in between awards, just to jazz it up. or something.

i really didn't think anne hathaway and james franco were that bad. i think every year the hosts get slammed. people set the bar way too high for the hosting gig. in the moment, critics will always hate the host. but then someone seemingly crappier hosts the next year and then everyone goes, oh they should have brought back last year's host. it's a neverending cycle.

but anyway, enough dissecting of the show. let's get on with the fashion!

1) gwyneth paltrow in calvin klein
hands down my favorite of the night. she just looked so young and fresh and beautiful. that dress was like liquid gold - it had this really great movement to it that you don't see too often in metallics. love.

2) hilary swank in gucci
the dress may not have fit her all that perfect on the top (should have been tailored better and fit tighter), but you can't deny how beautifully designed this entire dress is with the color choice, beading, feathers and of course that ombre! haha

3) celine dion in armani prive
my jaw dropped when i saw celine dion in this. so sleek, fit her like a glove, just amazing.

4) mila kunis in elie saab
i think this makes her 3 for 3 in my top faves from awards season! i was a little on the fence about this but after looking at more detailed shots, it really is a superb dress. plus she was the only one on the red carpet to go with lace and a light color. fantastic choice.

i'm obsessed with diane von furstenberg. she's the fashion mother i never had. actually i shouldn't say that because my mom was pretty stylin back in the day (curses to her for not keeping any of her old clothes though!) and will tell me when something looks so great, or so 2000-late.

let's call DVF my fashion godmother instead then. :)

in all the fashion docs and behind the scene vids i've seen of her, DVF always dishes out these amazing words of wisdom. i could listen to her tell stories all day long. she's just like that wise grandmother, that's really lived a full life and is so insightful and loves to share her past experiences and lessons she's learned to help and inspire you.

even during her brief brief stint on season 1 of mtv's the city, she took time to give some advice to our dear whitney port (see the clip here. sorry i couldn't embed the vid). here's what she said:

why i love coaching, part 1

i had a group of freshman girls start their tryouts yesterday. we already made the first cuts for the team last week, but since soccer and basketball seasons overlap with the start of lacrosse, we reserve additional spots for those girls to try out once their season ends.

so yesterday the frosh soccer girls came onto the field and they reminded me why i love coaching lacrosse so much. they had never picked up a lacrosse stick before that day, but by the end of practice they were catching, passing, and cradling. it wasn't perfect, they still dropped the ball from time to time. but it was amazing to see their progress and their eagerness and willingness to learn. but what made yesterday stick out so much for me was after practice, i overheard them talking and saying that this was the funnest sport they've ever played. (i don't think funnest is a word, but that's okay, they're freshman, they're still learning. haha!)

i don't wanna be all corny and say, oh hearing that made me feel all warm inside, i almost cried. let's not be too dramatic. BUT their comment did resonate with me a little just because it was a reminder of why i'm coaching again and why i decided to coach here. i love lacrosse. i loved every second i played on the field. i loved all the teams i coached (errr, almost all). but what i love most is passing on the skills and love for this sport to other kids and seeing them get as excited about playing as i was/am.

it's still early on into the season and i'm sure there will be moments when these kids will drive me insane and i'll question my reasons for coaching again. but when that time comes, hopefully i'll remember to come back to this post to slap some sense into me.

i just realized it's already february. i used to hate februarys. if i was still working (at that brand that shall not be named), right now i would be....

..... up to my eyeballs in product development for the new spring/summer 2012 season, which probably just kicked off a few weeks ago (i do wonder what the big trends are going to be for the season. how i DESPERATELY miss my wgsn subscription!!).

..... and i'd be prepping for fall/holiday 2011 MAGIC, which i probably wouldn't be attending but would have to manage the meetings remotely from my little desk in sf.....

..... oh and i'd also be pulling sample assortments for all the style out meetings for the fall/holiday 2011 photoshoots.

but instead.....

i get to enjoy the sunshine outside and run around a field playing lacrosse with a bunch of high school kids. there are still some things that are up in the air when it comes to work/school/future plans, but right now life is much improved. and i can start loving february again. :)

i didn't watch much of the awards show itself (most of the same winners from the globes, yeah??), but i did log on to fabsugar like i do for every awards show to see who was wearing what! overall it seemed like the dresses were much simpler than what we saw at the globes. everyone must be saving the wow dresses for those oscars!

here are my faves of the night -

1) mila kunis in alexander mcqueen.
is this chick getting nominated? or even in strong contention of winning an award? because she's been killing it with her dress selections, like she's gonna walk up to that stage and collect every single award in the book. love the shape and flow of the dress and the print is amazing. was a little iffy about that belt at first but it really does work to bring the look together. PS i desperately need to learn how to curl my hair EXACTLY like this.

2) lea michele in oscar de la renta
thank goodness she went with a simpler dress this time. her pick for the globes was pretty but all that fabric just swallowed up her little frame. much better this time around - great color, just the right amount of shine, unfussy hair, flawless makeup. chic, simple, love. PS i need to learn how to do my makeup exactly like this! :)

3) julia stiles in monique lhullier
come on. it's ombre. of course i'm gonna give it some love! :) god i love these colors together - the fading effect works so well with dark navy and white. of all the dresses, this is the one i'd love to find in a store and buy for myself.

i know i posted this on both twitter and tumblr already, but well, i'm just that obsessed with this right now. a nice little country love song.

"give in to me" - garrett hedlund & leighton meester (from country strong)

come on, how amazing do both of them sound on this track! major major props to garrett hedlund especially because he didn't know how to sing prior to making this movie. that deep voice of his sent me swooning. :)

i caught country strong over the weekend. well actually, i only caught 3/4 of the movie because some lame ass teeny bopper(s) at the century daly city decided to pull the fire alarm and we all had to evacuate the theater. i really really hate going to that theater. this is the 2nd time i've been to a show and had my movie interrupted by a false alarm like that.

anyway, from what i did catch of the movie, it was pretty good. not amazing but not bad. just right there in the middle. i couldn't stop comparing it to "walk the line." similar storylines with the whole musician battling alcohol and drugs and trying to salvage their career. great cast, just not a very well defined storyline (too many side stories diluted the main one).

the music was of course fantastic. i don't listen to too much country, but some of the songs in the film make you forget that it's country just because they're so well written and arranged. i'm pretty sure i bought every single song garrett hedlund sang in the movie. :) he ain't too bad on the eyes either. :)

PS remember him from the movie "friday night lights"? definitely one of my faves then too. mostly because of that one scene when he dislocated his shoulder during the game, went to the sidelines, trainers pop it back in and the coach goes, can you go back in, and he sucks up the pain and is like, yeah, and goes in and rushes to get enough yards for a first down and puts them in good positioning for a TD to win the game (which they don't. oops, spoiler alert!), and then the drunk abusive dad at the end gives him his championship ring and is all, i'm proud of you son. sorry, that was one long ass run on sentence! but it was such a great scene! haha!

anyway anyway, check out country strong. just don't go to century daly city. :)

after completing my fitness assessment and setting my goals, here's what i can look forward to:

short term goal:

time frame: 11 weeks

start date: january 18, 2011

goal: lose 21 lbs by april 5, 2011

long term goal:

time frame: 32 weeks (which includes the 11 weeks from above)

start date: same as above - january 18, 2011

goal: lose 60 lbs total by august 30, 2011

given my height, my weight range should be between 118 to 136 lbs. i haven't been 118 since my freshman and sophomore years of college. when i was practicing lacrosse 2-3 hours a day, 5 days a week, plus games, for most of the year. i'm targeting a range of 125-136 lbs. more realistic and i'm not pressuring myself as much to get to my high school/early college weight.

so that's the challenge. i'm more focused on the short term goal, of course. i can't be stressing myself out with that long term goal and the intimidating 60 lbs number. one day at a time here, people. (i feel like i'm an alcoholic when i say stuff like that)

move it and lose it

so earlier today i signed up for this online weight loss program.

i've been meaning to hit the gym. for the last month i've been saying that. and like always, i keep putting it off. tomorrow. no really tomorrow. no seriously, tomorrow. next thing i know a month has flown by. procrastination. it's probably one of my worst traits.

anyway, i was catching up on late night with jimmy fallon on my dvr (i have expressed how much i love jimmy fallon right? i love everything about his show. but i'll have to save my "20 reasons why i love late night w/ jimmy fallon" post for another time). doctor oz was on the show as a guest and he was talking about this new weight loss program he developed. it's january. new year's resolutions. makes sense. so a few key words stuck out during the interview while describing his "move it and lose it in 2011" program:

11 weeks (do-able time frame)

nike sparq training (nike developed this great training program years ago for athletes at all levels. great stuff. and well since i'm a nike whore, their involvement with the doc's program definitely upped its cool factor)
FREE (ding ding ding, we have a winner)

the free aspect is always a little sketchy, but i decided to sign up anyway. and so far, yes, everything is free and managed online.

they set up the site so it mimics facebook. you've got your own profile page, you can upload your picture, there's that familiar newsfeed scroll, and you can link up w/ friends. they auto add the pros that work on the program to your friends list - the doc himself, nike's sparq trainers, nutritionists, sports psychologists, you name it. after reading all their bios, i was actually really impressed by the variety of industry professionals they decided to include in this program.

like other programs, you gotta log in your food and exercise daily. yes this can get tedious, but the instant analysis you get which shows how you progressed that day toward your goal is worth it.

so why this? why now?

1) because i need to lose weight. i've been at a really unhealthy weight for a while now, but i've actually been lucky and fortunate enough to not have any major health problems arise because of my weight (knock on wood). but i'm on that edge. my doctor even warned me about this. lose the weight or start taking meds to keep your cholesterol down. yikes. i refuse to be a pill popper, so LET'S DO THIS!

2) because i have the time. one of the perks of unemployment, i guess. :)

and 3) because i'm gong to be coaching again soon and what kind of example and coach would i be if i'm not even active? if i'm going to be yelling at these kids to run a mile, i better be able to do the same.

so there you have it. it's going to be hard work. i know it. but i have to do it.

golden globes

awards season is upon us, which of course means dresses and gowns galore! woo hoo!

the critics' choice and people's choice awards have already come and gone, but really it's the golden globes that sets the tone and starts the big show of hollywood fashion.

i'll try to keep this short and sweet, so here are my three faves of the evening:

1) anne hathaway. armani prive

hands down my favorite dress of the night. impeccably clean design yet still glamorous. love the color and the design of the sequins onto the dress. but what put this over the top for me was the bold shoulder detailing. amazing.

2) emma stone. calvin klein collection.

first off, how great does emma stone look as a blond? didn't expect that at all. key word here: minimalist. loved this sleek, capped sleeve dress in a great color that complimented her skin tone and newly blond 'do. what can i say, it's an.......easy a. (sorry, i just had to!)

3) mila kunis. vera wang.

emerald was definitely the bold color statement for the evening, and i could've easily picked angelina jolie's dress too, but for gown design and head to toe styling i definitely preferred mila kunis' look. young and glam.

honorable mention: olivia wilde. her marchesa gown was a little too princessy for my taste, but the ombre color completely won me over. you know i love me some ombre.

bonjour! so....yesterday i updated my tumblr. which i hadn't done since september apparently. today i shall update my blogspot. which i haven't touched since august! oops!

where to start? seeing as how i can't remember ish these days, i'll have to consult twitter and tumblr to help shake the old memory.....

september:
- played some flag football (and realized how horrible i was at it! sorry fellow porkchops!)
- said goodbye to my coworker (who i became great friends with) as she moved back to ny.
- 12 hour work days.
- reunited w/ my soccer bff and finally started going to games again (go quakes! go real! go usa!).
- smiths nights at milk = good. times.
- went on my first work trip to ny, reunited w/ an old college friend and tore up the town like we was still in college.
- minor foot fracture. thx again to the drunk biznatch who stepped on my foot w/ her stiletto heel!

october:
- sittin on the dock(ers) of the bay.....no more! farewell.
- played tour guide for all my family that suddenly came to town.
- giants > soccer. momentarily.
- went back to new york and fell in love with central park. and henri bendel.

november
- played tour guide for even more relatives pouring into town!
- hit the road and headed down to la la land.
- david. beckham. *swoooon*
- celebrated the nephew and niecey's birthdays.
- part time babysitter.
- went to my first niner game at candlestick.
- gave thanks for another great year and for every single person in my life.

december:
- xmas decorating/shopping. i'm in an unusually christmasy mood this year. may be because i have time to enjoy it all. as opposed to past years, working til 9pm most nights, thx to a brutal retail calendar. i sooo don't miss prepping for sales meetings and market week!!
- slipping into slacker mode but trying not to make myself feel bad for it. at least for now.
- resumes, resumes, resumes
- prepping for the new year to come........

another month, another playlist! i love putting these together. so what's on the bill for november?

got 3 lady gaga tunes - her newest single bad romance (have ya seen the vid? craziness.) along with 2 acoustic bits. i was going through my dvr over the weekend and watched the snl episode with hottie boy ryan reynolds hosting and lady gaga performing. OMG she had this amazing set on the piano and i just had to go find more like it. PS is it still called an acoustic number if it's a piano solo? for some reason that sounds odd to me because i only associate acoustic with guitar. whatevs, random thought.

of course i had to include some teeny bopper faves - justin bieber and taylor swift. i'm mildly obsessed with white horse by tay-swift. beautiful song. this gal keeps surprising me with her range of songs. then there's justin bieber, who is what, 14 or something. he is so our new jesse mccartney (with a dash of ryan sheckler) and i love it! some great pop tunes coming from this kid.

russian roulette - gotta show rihanna some love. sucks that i keep thinking of audrina and justin bobby whenever i hear this song because the producers used this at the end of a hills episode, after yet another falling out between the two sorta love birds. ugh, enough of their storyline already!

manhattan by mozella - had to include this after i heard it on the city last week.

i kissed a girl, from katy perry's unplugged album. love how she re-worked this song.

whatever you like - anya marina. i already talked about this song and its utter brilliance in a previous post, so no need to go on further

mariah's cover of i wanna know what love is. just because it's mariah and you can never go wrong with her covering an oldie slow jam!

the trey songz and david guetta tracks are pure guilty pleasures, even more so than the teeny bopper songs! the trey songz one is so bad but you just can't deny how smooth his voice sounds over the hook. "girl when i get you to the crib, upstairs to the bed, girl you gon' think......." i wish ray j did the song just so i would NOT like it, because ray j's voice ain't nothing compare to trey songz.

then there's david guetta tryin to describe this girl without being disrespectful, but calls her a sexy bitch anyway. i shouldn't like this but i do! it's got that slight electro influence mixed with that club beat. so good!

the last few tracks are some staples that are usually on constant rotation on my itunes, imeem, etc - amanda blank, santigold, and the gossip. listen to the gossip track and you'll see why i love this group so much. heavy cross embodies why beth ditto and this group are so effing amazing.

i don't know who this anya marina chick is but she just caught my attention and won me over with her cover of TI's "whatever you like." omfg i can't even begin to describe just how brilliant this is!!!

i'm kinda obsessed with TI and this is by far one of my favorite tracks of his. and of all people covering this, it's this chick who totally rearranged the song into a more acoustic, folksy, CW-friendly format. and she kept all the original lyrics!

props to gossip girl's music producers on finding this gem. wow. blown away.

i....i......i have no words for this for i am far too excited!

yall, general hospital is my all time favorite soap ever! luke and laura. the karen-jagger-brenda love triangle. frisco and felicia. the crazy quartermaines. stone and robin. robin and jason. omg i could go on forever! the peak of my obsession was during junior high and high school, especially during the summer months. i have no idea what the crazy plotlines are like these days but i'm sure, as with all soaps, all it takes is a week and you're just about up to speed because you realize most of the storylines from like 5 years ago never wrapped up anyway!

so who is james franco going to play? i don't even know what families are still living in port charles and who he could possibly be tied to. but if his wardrobe in the above pic is any indication of things to come, he's probably gonna be tied to sonny corinthos in some way. and i LOVE it!

november 20 is the big debut. i am setting my DVR right now!

in honor of DJ AM, tonight i am dancing like nobody's watching to one of many favorite mixes of his. truly a talented dj. i still believe he is the one who sparked the fusion and craze of mixing hip hop songs/beats with just about any and every genre in the clubs - rock, pop, oldies, you name it. now it's the norm in most clubs, but just 5 years ago most dj's kept it strictly top 40 hip hop! it was always a GREAT party when he was behind the decks.

i still remember the exact day i first heard DJ AM spin. it was august of 2004 in vegas. he was playing at a pool party at the palms (before summertime pool parties became the norm in town). i was lounging by the pool, enjoying the scene and the tunes when all of a sudden i hear that whistling song from kill bill play over the speakers (the one that plays in the background when daryll hannah's character is walking through the hospital, disguised as a nurse and she's about to kill uma thurman. yeah that one). then i hear the beat from michael jackson's "billie jean" looped in over the whistle. it was all over after that. obsessed. i was like, who the fuck is this dj'ing right now!!! i was blown away. after that it was more hip hop mixed with party rock songs and an indie tune here and there and i was on cloud 9. sigh....such a great music moment.

i can't tell you how many new artists i started listening to because of his mixtapes. lykke li. MIA. the gossip. uffie. just to name a few. DJ AM was like my music ambassador! i just loved how eclectic his music taste was and it showed on every single one of his mixes.

seriously, as someone who loves music as much as i do, this death hurts just as bad as mj's did a few months ago!

for some reason i hate writing RIP and then the person's name after. it just feels too morbid. so instead i shall say, i hope you're at peace now. our thoughts and prayers and love go out to you, your family and your friends. oh and one more thing.........thank you.

finally put together a new playlist for the month. i guess this should really be an august/september playlist seeing as how there are only 7 more days left in the month! :)

as always, the genres run across the board. from a couple of indie/rock faves (leighton meester sounds quite amazing and was a great add on to the cobra starship song) to my typical teen pop guilty pleasures to some radio r&b. i do also have to call out shakira's new "she wolf" track which is a great sound for her. the style totally reminds me of kylie minogue but shakira's voice adds a completely different dimension and feel. loves!

god love jimmy fallon and his mutual love for saved by the bell. he got the ball rolling on a reunion special for his late night show (last i heard all were in except kelly and screech, right?). and now, to the delight of SBTB die hards everywhere (yours truly included in that bunch), people magazine put them on the front cover of their latest issue (minus screech, but that's okay because dustin diamond is a skeezy douchebag anyway. and really, no one ever really cared about screech).

anyway i need to find this issue ASAP! this totally made my day. hope it does the same for you!!

heading out of town for a week. nowhere crazy exciting. just heading up to toronto to visit fam. i'd been promising my fam out there for years that i'd make the trip and the day has finally come! hasn't hit me yet. still in the process of packing! and it's 2:24AM! and i'm still wrapping up some stuff for work! and i'm trying to work out before my flight, which leaves at 8:00AM. i know, i'm a crazy person today.

what do you call a quarterlife crisis when you're about to turn 30? i didn't really have a quarterlife crisis when i turned 25. but i feel like i am having one now as i get closer and closer to my 30th birthday. which is in exactly 2 months and 15 days.

ever since i turned 29, i've been stressing about turning 30. i just can't get over it. can't fully accept it. i don't feel 30. i don't act like i'm 30.

i'm stressing out because...........
i'm in a job i can't see myself in long term.
i'm not married.
i'm nowhere close to getting married.
because i can't seem to get my finances together so i can get my own place. or at least move out and pay rent somewhere in the city.
because i've become too reliant on my mom.
i've become too comfortable where i am right now yet still restless.
i realize that i've settled for things in life instead of working to change for the better.
because this isn't the life i imagined for myself by the time i turned 30.
because i'm not sure i ever had a strong picture in mind for myself by the time i turned 30.

i'm gonna be 30. oh my god i'm going to be 30 years old and i don't know what the hell i'm really doing! how did i let so many years pass by? what the hell have i been doing with my life? i think that's the question that really freaks me out. what the hell have i been doing?????

i know i can't drastically turn my life around and resolve all my above issues in a matter of two months. i just don't want to wake up one day and it's two months before my 40th birthday.

sorry, i just had to get that off my chest. it's been resting there for a while. for about 10 months to be exact.
